Unboxing Google Bard.
2023-12-06
While Google is no stranger to technological innovation; in fact, they may have coined the term, next to rival tech giants like Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon. But where others fall
short, Google thrives. Developed as a competing artificial intelligence platform to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google Bard has streamlined its platform to pull information from the web. This makes sense, because that’s what Google Does.
Announced on February 6, 2023, Google Bard uses its own, advanced large language model (PaLM) to create a lightweight model version of LaMDA. It is considered one of the most popular chatbots on the market, utilizing a multitude of innovative features that allow users to create, text, video, and images organically from the web, along with additional astonishing features.
This article will cover the basics.
Lightweight Genus Chatbot.
Supported in over 40 languages, Bard offers advanced chatbot features for users unlike anything seen in the space. In addition to written text, Good Bard can include images within its answers. When asked “What are some great places to visit on the Jersey Shore,” Bard was able to provide descriptions of Atlantic City, complete with visuals.
The chatbot provides impressively accurate representations of real human language, making interacting with Bard a pleasure. When used, it provided surprisingly accurate information across what appeared to be a limitless set of topics.
Enter Prompt Here.
Like conventional chatbots, Bard starts the conversation with an ask, prompting the user to interact with the AI. The interface is open-ended, giving the user the flexibility and freedom to ask what they wish. Many users in marketing and social media are using Bard as a brainstorming tool, asking it for relevant information, and then transforming that information into personalized content. Bard is becoming a marketing tool, an organizational tool, a knowledge-producing guru, and in some odd cases, a companion.
GPT Vs. Bard.
While ChatGPT beat Bard to market with a faster release, Bard was not far behind. Both use natural language models and machine learning to create their answers, but each has different features. ChatGPT is based on data collected up until 2021, whereas Bard can collect information as up-to-date as today. With streamlined integrations into Google Search Engine, Bard is wired for the internet.
On the other hand, ChatGPT is much more proficient in succinct language models, and can seemingly appear more human. ChatGPT also can organize searches by saving conversations to their sidebar for later use. While ChatGPT relies solely on written answers and input, Bard includes images.
The Future of AI.
The rapid release of AI chatbots has flooded the world with thousands of questions. With many related to jobs, the global monetary system, and cyber crime, Congress has recently created a regulatory body specifically aligned to reign in potential security threats from AI. While the regulatory body is still in its infantile stages, it is a step in the right direction from preventing artificial intelligence from running a proverbial “muck.”
And while no one knows the true rate of acceleration in which AI can inherently learn, it's important that security parameters are put into place. For now, Chatbots like Bard are here to stay, being adopted at an alarmingly high rate and changing the landscape of many industries such as marketing, finance, and software development.
